Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information AVwhere handles, why, which services help us process it, and the choices you have.

1Who we are
GeoAsset LLC operates AVwhere and is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact us at Contact@avwhere.com with privacy questions or requests. You can browse public maps, listings, updates, and Help without creating an account.
2What we collect and why
Account information. If you sign in, we process your account identifier, email address, and available profile details, such as your name and profile image. We use these to authenticate you, operate your account, and associate your follows and contributions with you. Our authentication provider also processes information needed to manage sessions and protect accounts.
Follows, passport and handle. We store the operators and cities you follow (even ones not on the map yet), stamps, calls, Helpful taps, your last visit, notifications, and any handle you choose and when you chose it, so these features work.
Contributions. If you submit an image, we store the image, caption, related listing, optional date taken, credit choice, submission time, and review information. If you send a report, we store its kind, the place you pinned (rounded to about 11 meters), the related listing, the dates and details you give, any note, links, and photos, your credit choice, and review information. We use these to review and publish contributions and document coverage. The normal upload process removes embedded location and camera metadata before sending an image, but it does not automatically remove personal information visible in the image or written in its caption or note.
Device location. Pressing Use my location shares an approximate location once, to place a report’s pin; it is not stored separately.
Technical information. Delivering the site, maps, and account features involves processing information such as IP address, browser and device details, requests, and service logs. We use it to deliver features, diagnose problems, and protect the service. Map requests reveal the map tiles or areas being viewed. Browsing the map does not require device-location permission.
Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for page-view counts and load times: a small script, no cookies, no cross-site tracking, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We run no other usage analytics and will update this policy before adding any.
Messages to us. If you contact us, we use your contact details and message to respond, investigate the issue, and keep necessary records.
3Services that help us run AVwhere
We use:
- Clerk for authentication, account management, and session security.
- Convex for application data, saved operators, notifications, reports, and contribution review.
- Cloudflare for hosting the site, storing and delivering contributed photos, and page-view analytics.
- YouTube (Google) and X play videos and posts linked in reports, in their own players, only when you tap one; nothing loads from them before that. AVwhere uses YouTube API Services; see the Google Privacy Policy and the X Privacy Policy.
- MapTiler for basemap delivery and related map resources.
These providers process information needed for their roles. Our hosting infrastructure also processes requests and technical information needed to deliver and secure the site. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and security.
We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Booking links and other external links take you to services governed by their own privacy policies.
4What becomes public
Approved images, captions, reports, and associated contribution details may be visible to anyone, including the places you pinned (to about 11 meters) and the dates you gave. Credit uses your handle or the generic “a contributor” credit, as you selected; your account’s own name is never shown. Choosing generic credit does not hide information within the image or caption or prevent internal account association. Submissions are available to reviewers before publication. Please remove personal information you do not want to share.
5Cookies and browser storage
Authentication uses necessary session technology. Browser storage also remembers interface settings such as map position, selected views, tour preferences, and account-header display information.
Browser controls can clear or block site storage. Doing so may sign you out, reset preferences, or prevent some account features from working.
6Retention and account deletion
We retain information while needed to provide the relevant features, resolve issues, secure the service, or meet legal obligations. Service logs and backups may remain for limited periods after removal from the application.
You can request account deletion through your account settings (see Help: deleting your account). After the deletion event is processed, we remove your profile and handle, follows, passport, calls, notifications, and unapproved submissions and reports and their stored images. Rejected images and reports are otherwise scheduled for deletion 30 days after rejection.
Approved images and reports may remain with generic credit because they contribute to the catalog. Their captions may still contain personal information; generic credit is not full anonymization. Contact us to request removal of an approved contribution or personal information within it. We will consider the request under applicable law.
7Your rights and other information
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise them; we may need to verify your identity.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing requested account and service features, legitimate interests in operating and securing AVwhere, and applicable legal obligations, as appropriate.
We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure. Our providers may process information outside your country; where required, appropriate transfer safeguards apply. AVwhere is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided it.
We will update the effective date when this policy changes and provide prominent notice of material changes and any further notice required by law.
